About Our Event

South Dakota Safety Days is a community-focused event dedicated to promoting safety awareness and education across our region. It brings together first responders, families, and local organizations to emphasize the importance of preparedness, quick response, and community support during emergencies.

Aurora County made history in November 2025 as the FIRST county in South Dakota to officially proclaim October as First Responders Appreciation Month. This groundbreaking proclamation recognizes the courage, dedication, and selfless service of our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers, setting a precedent we hope will inspire all 66 counties across our state.

On January 21st, 2026, Governor Larry Rhoden signed a historic proclamation designating October 2026 as First Responders Appreciation Month for the entire State of South Dakota. This statewide recognition honors Aurora County's leadership and extends appreciation for first responders to every community across our great state.

This inaugural community event is organized by TilTechDoUsPart LLC to honor that historic commitment and support Aurora County first responders. Our vision is to make this an annual tradition, and based on the success of our first event, we're planning to establish a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to continue this important work for years to come. Current sponsorships and contributions are not tax-deductible as charitable donations.

Proceeds from the 2026 event will support Aurora County's fire, police, and EMS departments, helping ensure they have the resources, equipment, and training needed to protect and serve our communities.

While focused on Aurora County, we welcome participation from towns and counties across South Dakota to stand united in promoting safety and honoring those who keep us safe every day. Join us in celebrating Aurora County's leadership and launching what we hope will become South Dakota's premier first responder appreciation initiative.
